It is a mime based story telling technique used to illustrate ancient stories and myths (as well as current events) using non verbal cues and ritualised dance moves to convey story and the nuances of that story. However the culture specific references in Noh make it very difficult for western audiences to understand as we do not have the Japanese cultural and contextual references to make sense of it.
